South Africa: Port Elizabeth
A Community Development Volunteer is tasked to carry out a broad range of tasks which includes teaching English, assist in a preschool, help in soup kitchens, and beach conservation. Participants work in underprivileged localities from preschoolers to the elderly. Program duration is from two weeks to 12 weeks.
This program utilizes the "‘Adaptive Development’" approach, where the organization talks to the locals to find out their needs or situation. From this conversation, Working Abroad Projects will provide said community with essential tools to inspire and elicit positive results.
1. A range of education levels to get involved in helping with.
2. Beautiful scenery, with lodgings close to the coast.
3. Additional activities on free days include horseback riding, two-day canoe trails and sky diving.
4. Work with underprivileged communities.
5. Work in coastal conservation; a range of options are available.
