Kenya is one of the most beautiful, vibrant countries in the world. It has extraordinary national parks teeming with wildlife, beautiful beaches on the Indian Ocean, and excellent hiking in the mountains. We will organize several safaris at special discounted prices. Trips may include a weekend trip to Lake Naivaisha and the sanctuary of Crescent Island, a three day safari to Samburu National Reserve, and a safari to the world famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve, the home of the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra on their trek up from the Serengeti. Students may stay longer and climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, travel to the Indian Ocean beaches at Mombasa or on the nearby island of Zanzibar or visit the mountain gorillas in Uganda or Rwanda.
This year we are planning group safaris at steeply discounted prices to enhance your stay in Kenya. On one trip, we may travel to Lake Naivaisha in the Great Rift Valley, the mammoth fissure in the earth's surface where the great anthropological discoveries have been made. This freshwater lake has an abundant hippo population and over 300 species of birdlike. Or we could take a launch to the Crescent Island Game Sanctuary where we walk among giraffe, zebras, gazelles and other non-predatory wildlife. There will be an opportunity to climb the extinct volcano, Mt. Longonot that rises to 9000 feet above the Rift Valley floor.
We travel around the 17,000 feet jagged peak of Mt. Kenya and then down into the sub-desert region of Samburu. The Ewaso Nyiro River runs through the Park and attracts abundant wildlife. Students will encounter leopard, cheetah, elephant, ostrich, gerenuk antelope, crocodile, Grevy's zebra, and the reticulated giraffe. At the end of the program, we help arrange a safari to the world famous Masai Mara Game Reserve, home of the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra.
