  • University Attributes

    Western Connecticut State University is a dynamic and forward-looking university, characterized by a truly dedicated faculty and a diversified student body. It enjoys a growing reputation for academic excellence in its programs in the arts and sciences, teacher education and professional studies, and business. The University is located in southwestern Connecticut, 60 miles north of New York City and 50 miles west of Hartford. It is part of a four campus system in Connecticut and is able to call upon resources of the other three campuses in the CSU system. Western provides a comprehensive learning community with strong liberal arts and science programs within a small school environment allowing for a close relationship between faculty and students. It has an extensive Cooperative Education program that provides students with meaningful on-the-job experience in business, industry, governmental agencies and other employers. Our Division of Graduate Studies offers Master's degree programs in Nursing, Educational disciplines, English, History, Mathematics, MBA, MHA, and other fields of study. The University Center for Adult Education serves the needs of our mature, part-time students. The Charles Ives Center for the Arts presents outdoor musical performances in a beautifully preserved rural setting on the University's Westside campus. Our affiliation with the Jane Goodall Institute enhances University programs that promote environment education.
