Extensive information about studying at LMU Munich can be found on the JYM website. The program also provides language training and optional area studies courses taught at the JYM institute which is centrally located in the city's museum district. Students must have junior status and two years of college German. Only students from US or Canadian colleges or universities may apply. All instruction is in German. Students typically enroll in a combination of courses throughout the year: JYM language and elective area studies courses taught at the JYM institute, and LMU Munich courses. Undergraduate research projects are also encouraged. All instruction is in German. The program has a full-time Resident Director on site in Munich. Students live alongside their German counterparts in university student residences. JYM has its own scholarship funds and distributes USD 50,000 in scholarships annually.
