  • Description

    A marine conservation project in Mozambique that gives you the chance to take part on whale shark research, coral reef monitoring and turtle nest surveys whilst discovering a great scuba diving destination.

  • Highlights

    There isn't much knowledge about whale sharks, their dynamics and threats, except that they are harmless to humans, easy to monitor (due to their size) and especially that they are a good indicator of the ocean's health and productivity.

    All over the world changes associated with tourism and other human activities are threatening marine life. This specific coastline is being invaded by alien species, exploitation, bleaching and is experiencing other ecological changes.

    This research project is an attempt to get to know a bit more about the indicator species of fish, to help to prevent irreversible damage on the Mozambican coastline. You will have the chance to engage in activities such as:

    * Whale shark research
    * Coral reef monitoring
    * Humpbacked whale monitoring
    * Turtle nest surveys
    ... and to explore a great scuba diving destination.

    You are needed to carry out field activities and help fund the project. In exchange, the project offers you a great chance to take part in diving, snorkeling and beach experience whilst gaining first-hand marine research skills and contributing to a worthwhile project.
