Volunteer conservation environmental project in Nepal with the local community of Chitwan and do a green gesture for the planet.
Nepal's natural environment has been deteriorating day by day under the growing demand for trees. In the past few years, thousand of hectares of land have disappeared due to soil erosion. This conservation volunteer project in Nepal gives you the chance to make real difference in the environment.
This physically demanding conservation project is a great opportunity to get hands on involvement with a grass roots environmental project with the local community of Chitwan, in Nepal.
A representative of your guesthouse will meet you at the airport in Kathmandu. All volunteers receive a one-week induction before starting the volunteer program. The induction is facilitated by the local coordinator Salve, and is designed to help you settle into Nepalese life and to ensure you are fully prepared for your conservation volunteer project. Based in Kathmandu and a rural hilltop village, the induction covers:
* The people of Nepal and their caste system
* Basic Nepali language classes
* Living with local families
* Traditional food
Environment conservation project objectives:
* To generate a sense of environmental awareness and conservation amongst children and local villages
* To provide an opportunity for foreign volunteers to study and gain new insights into issues such as environmental protection, resource management and sustainable agriculture in Nepal
* To Participate in integrated community development activities.
Activities as a volunteer in Nepal include seed collection, vegetation trimming, weeding, and researching and studying endangered plants. Additionally volunteers will be involved with local programs which teach local villages and schools about environmental awareness and conservation.
While volunteering for Environmental Action in Nepal, you may find yourself working alongside other local groups who carry out wildlife conservation, environmental conservation or historical preservation.
* You do not need any formal training or experience to participate, but whatever experience you do have will be taken into account when arranging your day-to-day activities.
* Volunteers need to be independent, enthusiastic and adaptable, hard working with an open-minded attitude.
* Please be aware that this project is physically demanding but the rewards are worth it!
* International volunteers are welcome.

WAVA's Responsible Travel policy is its mission statement. It's not an ideology. It is not a cast-iron set of rigid guidelines and procedures. Rather, it is a spectrum of principles and concepts that promote co-operation and learning not only by those in the London office, but also with all other parties involved - travellers, partners and host communities - ensuring each can mutually benefit. We do our best to understand our travellers' needs, responsibly preparing them to have great experiences, and we produce content that accurately informs our travellers of what they can expect to encounter when abroad.
