Work in projects that aim to improve the lives of Indians living in the slums of Jaipur. Take part in activities that range from instilling self-confidence and independence in adolescent girls and women, to caring for disabled or dispossessed children.
India is fast becoming our volunteers' most sought-after location. It is an ideal destination for those looking for that deep cultural immersion and meaningful travel experience.
We have been sending volunteers to India for a number of years, and in that time, Jaipur - one of the fastest-growing urban centres in India, has experienced a burgeoning population of slum-dwelling citizens. In 2010, with millions of people now living in slums we decided to expand the number of volunteer projects that we offer in Jaipur.
Volunteers are able to choose from a selection of eight diverse experiences in India:
1. Female Empowerment Project
2. Disadvantaged Children Project
3. Child Care and Pre-primary Education Project
4. Environmental Awareness Project
5. HIV and AIDS Patient Care Project
6. Orphanage Assistant Project
7. Health and Hygiene Awareness Project
8. Disabled Children's Project
You do not need any formal training or experience to participate on this program, however, whatever experience you do have will be taken into account when arranging your day-to-day activities in Jaipur. Volunteers simply need to have an open-minded attitude to life in India, be independent, enthusiastic, adaptable and hard working.

WAVA's Responsible Travel policy is its mission statement. It's not an ideology. It is not a cast-iron set of rigid guidelines and procedures. Rather, it is a spectrum of principles and concepts that promote co-operation and learning not only by those in the London office, but also with all other parties involved - travellers, partners and host communities - ensuring each can mutually benefit. We do our best to understand our travellers' needs, responsibly preparing them to have great experiences, and we produce content that accurately informs our travellers of what they can expect to encounter when abroad.
