Access Requirements
Applicants for Applied Informatics programme should have a bachelor or equivalent degree in informatics, informatics engineering, computer science, computer engineering or mathematics.
Programme Objectives and Competencies Acquired
The aim of the Applied Informatics study programme is to prepare high level information technology (IT) professionals being able to use the acquired knowledge, to gain new knowledge via self-education, to predict new tendencies in technology development, to adequately select and apply strategically important technologies and platforms, and also to participate in scientific research and enter doctoral studies in Lithuanian and foreign universities and scientific organizations.
Competences Acquired:
* Competence to create and apply new ideas in IT business and scientific areas;
* Competence to design IT products having commercial and public value in a professional and qualitative way;
* Competence to analyse, simulate and design processes of different complexity levels, intellectual and adaptive systems;
* Competence to solve complex problems in an unknown environment with limited available information;
* Competence to assume social and ethical responsibility for a designed product or solution;
* Competence to select and apply modern perspective technologies and platforms for the design of IT products, also design new IT technologies;
* Competence to carry on scientific research and experimental development (R&D) work, resume studies in doctoral programs.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of Applied Informatics programme will be able to work as programmers, software architects, analysts, consultants, project managers, department managers in different organizations, state institutions and business units; as researchers, scientific workers, assistants and lectors in science and education institutions. Graduates of Applied Informatics will be able to establish their own information technology business companies. Graduates of Applied Informatics may continue studies in PhD studies in informatics.
