    The Orphanage in Ghana is occupied by children between the ages of 0-20.

    The orphans at the orphanage come from different backgrounds. Some are at the orphanage because of the death of one or both of their parents due to HIV/AIDS and other reasons. Other children are at the orphanage because of the extreme poverty of their parents hence their inability to cater for them. Children taken out of the streets are also at the orphanage.

    The administration and running of the orphanage in Ghana comes with a lot of problems. The problems facing the orphanage range from shortage of personnel to care for the orphans at the orphanage to lack of funds to carry out the activities. VARAS as part of its orphanage in Ghana Africa support projects that help volunteers at the orphanage. By volunteering, they help solve some of the problems the orphanage is experiencing.

  • Volunteers for Amelioration of Rural Areas (VARAS)'s Mission Statement

    Volunteers for Amelioration of Rural Areas (VARAS) is going to ameliorate the rural areas by supporting education and health care delivery in all forms, providing portable water, assisting the needy and orphanage in all these communities. VARAS will provide contribution towards maintenance of the environment, and micro-finance with the aim of eradicating poverty. Also particular attention will be given to rural areas activities such as indigenous designing and making of cloth as well as agriculture.
