Very well organized. Jenny helped me all the time to with projects for the kids. Always answered any questions i had. Working with kids was very rewarding, overall the volunteer project was an awesome experience, and i look forward to doing more volunteering work in the future.
Anurag and Sahil helped with every detail of our trip, and we felt very confident that everything was in order for our journey. They always replied informatively, promptly and professionally. The Galapagos Islands are more amazing than we imagined. Learning about the Giant Tortoises is an incredible lesson on Conservation. We also saw iguanas, penguins, flamingos, sea lions, boobies, sharks, Light-foot crabs, plus more. Teaching English to students (ages 8-12) in Quito was very rewarding. They are very appreciative and so eager to learn. We are grateful for this opportunity to be of some help.
The placements were great. I loved the HIV orphanage and the Disabled. Both were optional as not everyone wanted to do these, but I loved the disabled one most, although initially it was very overpowering. The kids are used to volunteers, so they are very friendly and in two weeks I really got to see their personalities. It was quite difficult leaving. I would love to go back and teach next time. Home stay & meals: It was amazing. The hostel was a great environment to work with others doing the same thing. It was emotional at times, so to share this with others was a relief. It was very organised at the hostel, with food and social activities available to all. The food wasnt to my taste and I took some crackers and cuppa soups. For those that arent very adventerous with food, I would highly recommend that you take these things as a back up. Great cause! I cant recommend this trip enough, it was A-mazing!!
I was pleased with everything, just to say it was beyond expectations! I have seen a lot of this country as I travelled a lot during my free time. The school was very simple and needs a lot more help. I have seen progress in kids during my stay, however I hope that I can in future one day come and help for more improval.
Volunteering Solutions was very helpful and sent us all the relevant information quickly and promptly. The staff at Volunteering Solutions were always ready to help and were always happy to answer any of our questions. Our placement was very rewarding and we really enjoyed getting involved with the kids. We are sad to leave them! Our host family is so friendly and welcoming and we have really enjoyed staying with them and spending time with them. Our family has really gone out of their way to provide a new and interesting food to us every meal time, and they have been delicious
Was Very good. Joe meet me at the airport in good time and there was no problems. Excellent! The flexibility was superb and made my stay even more enjoyable. Our host family is so friendly and welcoming and we have really enjoyed staying with them and spending time with them. Our family has really gone out of their way to provide a new and interesting food to us every meal time, and they have been delicious!
Pre Departure info and guidance was excellent, I naturally had many questions and queries all of which were answered quickly and in full. After spending a month beforehand with another well known volunteer company and having some bad experiences, I was nervous about how my 4 weeks with Uma and Volunteering Solutions would turnout. I needn't of worried, both Uma and Volunteering Solutions were Excellent! My placement in Kathmandu teaching was a wonderful experience that I won't forget, the orphanage really needs help and volunteers and I felt my contributions were truly appreciated. The accomodation, although may be considered basic to some is comfortable, clean and very welcoming. Uma and the children made my volunteer experience what it was, it was such a pleasure to stay at the orpahange and something I'll really miss once I leave Nepal. The food is excellent and I would recommend the placement to anyone. Uma is a brilliant coordinator who I felt really went out of her way to help and look after me. Uma is reliable, honest and friendly and fulfilled her role as a coordinator fully.
Amazing! I would highly recommend this trip. In a large group of over 30 volunteers/students, everything was well organized thoughtfully planned which made our time efficientely well spent. The accommodation and meals were fantastic.
The pre-departure information was quite helpful for me to have a better understanding regarding my accommodation in India, Indian culture, food and traditions, and my duties while volunteering in this country. Besides, it gave me a glimpse of how dedicated and professional the Volunteering Solutions Organization is, making me more confident about the decision of coming to India as a volunteer. I worked at the Day Care Center of Palampur. Where the kids received me with a huge smile. That let me know that they are happy and very well taken care of. They are very smart and eager to learn. The teachers are dedicated, and seem to enjoy what they do. Always looking for new things to improve the project, and to help the kids to learn their lessons. Theres of course a lot more that need to be done to improve the facilities, so the children can enjoy of a good education, while being in a safe and clean space. Overall, I can say Ive had the time of my life working with these kids. I feel I made the right choice by coming up here. All I can say is that the long trip that took me up here was worth it. The kids laughters and the way they enjoy their lifes has given me a new sense in life. I am already missing them! The house I stayed, as well as the facilities are very comfortable. The family that inhabits the house have treated me as if I were part of the family, making me feel at home all the time. I was a bit concern about the spicy Indian food, but I told them, and they got it all fixed for me. So, Ive been eating excellent food during my staying here as well. Would you recommend this program to future volunteers? - "YES! Palampur is a magical place. The people are kind and very friendly. Plus the surroundings are beautiful and filled with peace."
Everything was well arranged. My host father and sister came to pick me at the airport. They had a pluck card which said welcome to arusha, devangana. I was very touched. I was given a warm welcome at my host family on arrival. I worked with Tuseme, a home for street boys. I taught the boys English, basic mathematics and some games and songs. It was a really enriching experience. I was also involved in interactive sessions with street boys not in the home. Through consultations with the co-ordinator of the orphanage, Mr. Phideli also tried to evolve a re-conceptualization of the idea of street children homes in a participatory process from the children. The home stay was one of my most special moments of my stay. My host mom and dad were really sweet people. My host mom took me church on Sunday and gave a testimonial about me before I left, I was very touched!! My host sister Maureen was the coolest girl I have ever met, a single mother, her independence and confidence was a great inspiration for me. Moreover, we painted the town red on many occasions ;-) She took me for a 9hr long music concert the day before I left which was being held on the occasion Tanzania Independence Day. The food provided by my family was amazing. I gained a lot of weight inspite of all the walking I did&hehe. I loved my host family!!
The project of working with street children was an amazing experience, while the language barrier was difficult to get around, it was very easy to bond with the children. The entire time of working with these children who had nothing, was an eye opening experience, the organization is great helping these kids. I enjoyed my home stay in Delhi, it was a very interesting experience to see how an Indian family goes by their lives. The food was tasty and there was never a shortage of filtered water. The family spoke English very well, so there were no difficulties in communicating. The time I had was full of culture and interest. My coordinator was Rajiv and he would answer all my questions whenever needed. He was helpful in telling me how to act when on the streets of Delhi. He was very kind about anything I needed.
The host family were friendly and welcoming, meals were simple but this is good as Ghanian food can be very different to that of western culture. Fred was fantastic, he was always there when I needed him and arranged things outside of the placement, so that I was rarely bored.
Once I came to India, I was scared. After meeting such friendly and cooperative staff of volunteering solutions I was really happy. The program was good and everything was just great right from the start. I stayed with the most wonderful host family (Nerraj & Family). I worked with an NGO working for women in semi rural area around Delhi. I stayed for 2 months and am already making plans to go back!
