Description

The main goal of this program is to provide love, attention and care to the orphan and disadvantaged children. Our volunteers work in orphanages run by the main public institution in charge of abandoned children, kids in process of adoption, teenager mothers, street kids in Peru. Their role is to improve the life quality of the kids in risk. The children they work with are generally orphaned, abandoned, neglected, or abused. Many children coming from situations such as this end up in gangs or working in the streets, missing out on an education.

Volunteers help kids doing homework from school, helping cleaning the kitchen, teaching very basic English, teaching art craft, helping at the workshops inside the orphanage, organizing short sports, help with laundry, help with meals for the children. For example cooking and serving food, feeding smaller children, play games, dance, sing etc.

Volunteers for 5 days in a week and the minimum program duration is 3 weeks.

Project Location
The project placements are located in and around the city of Cusco. Most of the volunteer projects are located at a distance of 15-20 minutes from the accommodations and volunteers travel by either bus or taxis upon the distance.

During your Free Time
Volunteers are free to visit and see places or do shopping during their free time. Cusco's main attraction is Macchu Picchu where volunteers can stay for 1 or 2 days according to their budgets. Volunteers can explore nearest cities around Cusco, like Arequipa, Puno and puerto Maldonado. (Weekends)

Qualifications

Volunteers must be 17 years or older at the beginning of the program. Volunteers should be willing to interact with kids, to be flexible to adapt to a totally new culture and being very patient with children. The orphanages need volunteers with a high sense of commitment, volunteers willing to respect a take seriously the assigned tasks and respecting the proposed schedule.

Volunteers must have an intermediate Spanish level to apply for this program.
