Sports are enjoyed by people the world over, and Maldivians are no exception! It's still one of the best ways to unite people, creating strong community spirit and forging lifelong friendships.
Our sports programs have been very successful, with more to be implemented next year, working with new islands and NGO's.
Volunteer Maldives works alongside local coaches who are either part of a youth and sports group, or work within schools.
Whether teaching aerobics, badminton, volleyball, football, dance - a myriad of opportunities await volunteers with lots of energy.
Use your skills and talents to teach youths and young adults on the island a new skill! This can be anything from computers, carpentry, building, art & design, music, jewellery making. The list is endless so if you have an interesting hobby or skill that you would like to share, please let us know!
We also welcome our volunteers to help educate the young and old members of the community the importance of protecting our environment and their fragile island, and are keen for volunteers to arrange environmental days, which can include beach/island cleaning and reef cleaning and bringing the community together for such events.
Highlights
All our projects are individually organised in conjunction with the island schools and/or NGOs.
They run all year round and we slot volunteers into places as and when they become available - book early to avoid disappointment, particularly if you want to stay for only 4-6 weeks during the college/university summer holidays (June-Aug).
Through your love of sports you can really interactive with youths on the island and really inspire them and motivate them!
Part of this project will also involve running sports camps, arranging tournaments against other island teams within the atoll so this could give you the opportunity to travel and see different islands.
What better way to volunteer, doing something fun and that you enjoy and you get to do it in Paradise!
