  • Description

Volunteer Latin America provide information on free and low-cost volunteer work opportunities in Central and South America.

The environmental projects we offer are as varied and interesting as you might imagine, ranging from organic farming to wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.

We also give volunteers the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of humanitarian work such as child welfare, community development, education and health programmes.

Free volunteer opportunities include a Penguin Research project in Chile that provides free accommodation (volunteers help conduct daily observations of penguin nests); an Eco Camp in Venezuela that provides free accommodation and food (volunteers help with guiding and planting trees); an orphanage in Peru that provides free accommodation and some meals (volunteers help enrich the lives of children and families); a Tropical Forest Reserve in Ecuador that provides accommodation and some meals (volunteers help reforestation efforts, integrated pest management, small animal husbandry, etc); a Guesthouse in Bolivia that provides free accommodation (volunteers help run the hostel); an organic farm in the heart of the Patagonia (Argentina) that provides free camping (volunteers help out in the gardens and with construction projects).

Other projects charge a small participation fee to cover the cost of hosting volunteers (i.e. accommodation, food, materials, etc). On average this amounts to USD 250 per month. You can see various examples on the Volunteer Latin America website.

We also inform volunteers about language schools if they are interested in learning Spanish or Portuguese as part of their trip.
