Volunteer in India summer volunteering program is based in the region of Ladakh in the northern Himalayas. Summers in India can be very harsh with temperatures reaching up to 45 degrees with humidity up to 95% during peak monsoon season. Ladakh boasts the best summer weather in India as most of it is above 11000 feet and the Great Himalayas in the south create a rain shadow. Ladakh is a high altitude desert famous for its arid Himalayan landscape and preserved Buddhist culture.

Ladakh is a secluded land and is one of the last civilizations to come into contact with the modern world. It was inaccessible to tourists till the 80's and has been open to only in the last decade. Ladakh for long had been a self-sustaining economy but with the advent of modern technologies(Internet , telephone) the communities found themselves lagging behind and felt the need to grow with modern times.

Our volunteer program is located in the city of Leh and aimed at empowering the local communities which for long did not have an access to adequate education and healthcare facilities. Our volunteers have a chance to work with these deprived communities and help them with education, healthcare, vocational training etc. Our projects are associated with charitable schools/ organizations where volunteers help with elementary education to lay a solid foundation. Volunteers also help with imparting vocational skills or teach sports.

Summer volunteering in Program is only available for 5 months a year, from May to September.
