  • Description

f youve got a flare for the fine arts, then VFVs teaching fine arts to disadvantaged children project could be just the volunteer project youre looking for.

You probably have seen recent YouTube videos of Filipino street children break dancing, Filipino prison inmates dancing to Michael Jacksons Thriller, and our local flight attendants dancing to Lady Gaga. So you know that Filipinos love to dance! If you stroll through our neighborhood, youll probably see children, outside their homes, practicing the latest dance steps. Theyre good at it and thoroughly enjoy themselves.

Dancing is an excellent way of helping disadvantaged children to express themselves, to gain self-confidence, and to learn social skills. It also gives the children something fun and wholesome to do. There are, however, few opportunities for disadvantaged children to participate in dance classes. Fortunately, many accomplished and enthused individuals have volunteered during the past few years.

  • Highlights

    Additional optional activities:-

    - Conduct After-School Tutorials with Children on the Volunteer for the Visayans Child Sponsorship Program between 5pm and 7pm.

    - Participate with a wide variety of local community based projects such as adolescent youth groups and local mothers groups outside of your regular working hours.

    - Assist VFV with outreach projects such as building houses through their build-a-home project, assist with emergency relief and school supply distribution projects on weekends and after regular program hours.

    Discover the Community

All volunteers are accommodated within a small close knit Filipino community. All home stays are within 1 minute from each and within 1 minute from VFV's office and community centre - this offers great cultural immersion as well as a great way for volunteers to socialise outside of project hours.
