  • Description

    Gain an experience in the medical field! You will assisting doctors and medical staffs in treating patients. This program places doctors, nurses, and medical school students in hospitals and clinics in rural or urban Nepal. Interns will accompany doctors int heir rounds, explore different treatments, provide physical therapy and take part in vaccination programs. Depending on the timing of your visit, you will have the opportunity to visit large general hospitals, maternity clinics, children's hospitals, HIV/AIDS wards, and alternative-medicine clinics. Other volunteers may help in record keeping, sanitation, nutrition, or other minor treatments.

  • Highlights

    Nepal is a country enriched with a diverse people living in one of the most extreme environments. More than 35% of the people of Nepal fall below poverty line and due to limited government support, the Nepalese population live in poverty. Due to this, many go without adequate health care and rely on substandard healthcare provision due to insufficient hygiene and inadequate staffing, particularly in rural areas.

  • Qualifications

    Interested volunteers must have certification or proof of experience in a medical field for doing medical elective or internship, such as a medical student ID, EMT or paramedic certification, or nursing or physician's credentials. If you are a pre-medical student without such experience, we are glad to accept you and you will be placed in an appropriate health post allowing you to gain both medical exposure and knowledge.
