Volunteering Teachers
Teaching in low-income communities can increase employment opportunities and ultimately help people to become economically independent.
These students, of all ages and backgrounds would appreciate the opportunity to interact with fluent speakers and the extra assistance would be welcomed by local teachers. Volunteers with qualification in respective fields can provide a real contribution to the community and have great fun in the process.
* Volunteers don't necessarily need teaching experience to take part in and enjoy our teaching placements as long as they have the specific qualifications. This program is open to all volunteers in various fields, they really benefit the students they work with, while gaining valuable skills themselves. Placements are in primary or secondary schools and special schools. All our placements have one thing in common: a genuine need for qualitative education.
Most schools welcome volunteers who want to get involved in other aspects of school life, or run extra-curricular activities and after-school clubs such as: Sports, drama and music
The book project
It is known that various schools in rural communities in Nigeria are in need of basic and necessary school books. ARV volunteers endeavor to provide these schools with the books needed by sourcing for books, either used or brand new books, or donating funds specifically for the purchase of required books with which we stock the ARV libraries we set up in such schools.
Note** Volunteering teachers could also come along with some books and writing materials for the school at which they are placed.
Volunteers are warmly welcomed by teachers who appreciate the exchange of ideas, and an extra pair of hands to work one-on-one with students. Your work may be helping with educational games, sports, teaching life skills, and language and vocational training. Volunteers with experience in Special Education can also bring their skills and initiative to help create lesson plans and activities for the classroom
