The city of Iguazú is one of the most important tourist attractions in Argentina. It is full of hotels and other services of the highest quality, but at the same time it is a city with a high amount of poverty and a lack of access to education.
Although there lots of job opportunities in Iguazú, many of the local people do not have the qualifications necessary to work in the tourist sector. Often times, they can only get jobs as cleaners. They do not know how to use computers or speak any foreign languages and this makes it very difficult to get other jobs.
The community center in Iguazú is run by young people and volunteers in efforts to reverse this situation. They provide computer and English classes, as well as academic support.
Volunteers Tasks:
The aim of this organization is to receive volunteers who can help with the daily tasks of the community center:
* Basic computer classes for children, adolescents and adults.
* English classes for children and adolescents.
* Academic after-school support.
* Preparing and serving the children's tea.
The project is a unique opportunity to experience a totally individual culture. As Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina share borders here, volunteers have the chance to be part of an interesting cultural exchange where they can get to know the traditions of 3 all countries.
In addition, volunteers will find themselves in the middle of one of South America's most beautiful places. Iguazú offers incredible sights, hiking, and boat rides around the falls.
Volunteers who choose to participate in this project will have a real travel experience with meaning, responsibility and solidarity.
