Visions Service Adventures

I went on the Visions Peru trip. It was one of the best decisions of my life. I made great friends and had fun with everything we did on the trip. It was well organized, and had fantastic counselors. If you are looking for a service trip to a poor country, and a great experience, use VISIONS.

Visions is the best way anyone could spend a summer. From my two summers with visions, I learned and loved more than I did in my 6 years at camp. When i returned home from Visions, my perceptions were different, my personality was different, I was different. This program is something very special that if you let it, can truly impact you. SO GO ON IT!!!! You will not regret it.

I went to Peru with VISIONS in August 2008, and it changed my life. I had a great time working and living in Urubamba, and I made some friendships that will last throughout the years. Even though the work was demanding, I was able to have fun and find myself in the beautiful Sacred Valley. I would highly recommend VISIONS for anyone considering summer service, and I would highly recommend Peru if you decide VISIONS is right for you. The staff at VISIONS were more than just our leaders; in the end, they became our good friends.

An absolutely incredible experience that stays with you long after the program ends. The British Virgin Islands are spectacular to say the least. Everyone, from the counselors to the other kids to the natives on the island, are fun to be around and genuinely excited to be there. The work is certainly hard, but you are never pushed beyond what you are comfortable with. It is an incredible experience seeing what you have accomplished after your hard work, and the relaxing time off afterwards is well spent on the beaches or roaming through town. I truly cannot stress how enjoyable this trip was for every single person that went on it with me, and it is worth every penny a million times over to be able to have this experience at least once in life.

After discovering VISIONS online, I decided to look further into the program. I emailed the company and received a thoughtful response the very next day, answering every question I had. VISIONS was always happy to clear up any questions or concerns that were on my mind. The entire process leading up to the summer, which seemed complicated at first, was made incredibly easy and simple. My summer with VISIONS was one of the best of my life, no question about it. Like most of the other participants, I went into the program knowing no one. I arrived at the program location and was met by the friendliest staff members. They even knew my name before I knew theirs! Over the next month I bonded with them in ways I had never imagined before. The staff wasn't there merely to supervise and make sure we weren't getting into trouble. They made the experience so much better than I had ever imagined, taking every opportunity to get to know each of us better and engaging us in extra activities on Tortola. I'll never forget the time we went on a weekend excursion (one of many) about halfway through the experience. I was fascinated with the place. The program director must have noticed my fascination, because after everyone finished looking around and was sitting around talking, she came over to tell me that it was alright if we stayed longer so I could look around more. She even offered to explore with me, and for the next half an hour or so we explored the area. This is just one of many moments that showed the level of commitment the staff members had to ensuring that all of us were having the time of our lives. After spending a summer with VISIONS, I was changed. I met so many incredible people and learned so much. I learned more about what it means to be a citizen of this world, about others, and about myself. No matter how many adventures I go on in my life, I will never, ever forget my time on Tortola with VISIONS. VISIONS is a gem! Thank you, thank you, thank you, VISIONS!

VISIONS is a great program if you want to do community service. It combines volunteer work and also a buch of cultural immersion. Personally, I was not that interested in Vietnam, but after a period of 5 weeks in the Ba Vi District, I fell in love with the culture and the people. Everyone there is so optimistic and full of energy, you cannot help but to catch it. While in Vietnam, I worked in a center for disabled kids and it was amazing. Not only did I work witht he kids in the classroom, but I also worked at the center's garden. Overall, VISIONS Vietnam offered me a once in a lifetime opportunity; I made life-lasting friendships and can proudly say I traveled abroad to help people. :)
