  • Description

Volunteer work in Ecuador is really needed and appreciated around the country. Why? Because poverty plagues almost half of the population shortage of jobs, combined with inadequate education is the reason that many parents (single mothers) can't feed and provide for their children. Often there parents are out of the country in jail or divorced. Sometimes these parents fall into alcoholism, drug addiction and delinquency. These children have to go to the streets "to work" and bring money to support their parents "or their addictions" that is why we need volunteers like you to help.

As a social service foundation, we have many projects that we are constantly working on for example: building new classrooms, patching up the holes in the school roofs, pave the school playgrounds, reconstructing libraries and providing them with books and computers and we always work on water projects. Volunteers are welcome to work on any of these projects. So our programs are designed to introduce you to all levels of Ecuadorian society. Middle-class host families are prepared to receive the volunteers.

During the first few days they will participate in a cross-cultural orientation and city tour. In the following weeks volunteers will become familiar with the city and the surrounding region through orientation programs and field trips.

Volunteer Experience National Ayuda in Ecuador (VENAEcuador) can offer you different and original placements everywhere in the country from the Coast, Andes, Amazonas and the rainforest including Galapagos Islands. These are places where you will have a wonderful and unique experience.

Areas of volunteer service include: Orphanages, Teaching, Community Projects Services, Building, Conservation and Animal Rescue.

An internship is for professional development. It is an opportunity to gain experience and learn about a professional field through work with different cultures and people. And you will greatly enhance your resume.

To have a productive internship, it is important that you have at least an intermediate knowledge of Spanish. Internship placements are available in the fields of Journalism, Photography, Documentary Film, Medical and Human Rights.
