It's impossible to describe the feeling you get when you give up yourself for someone who really needs the help. When you meet someone and wonder how they can still be alive, given their conditions and circumstances, you know that helping them is your only option. Many of us live comfortable lives but forget to think about the needs of so many others who, much of the time, live right outside our door. Just because we don't know what the needs are, doesn't mean we are free to forget the needs exist.
As a volunteering Coordinator I have been traveling around Ecuador for the last six's years, seeking for new placements and Host Families that will fulfill the requests of volunteering jobs from USA and Europe, In my travels I had see the needs of my people especial the based supplements for children like: Education, Nutrition, Health, clothing etc. but then the only way I am able to help is bring an beautiful hard volunteers who are happy to shearing their time and knowledge with our children, you can't imagine the exited of the Parents, students, teachers, when a volunteer arrived to these communities, because our volunteers not only come to do any volunteering job, many volunteers bring along with hem some education and teaching materials, used clothing, shoes etc. to share with the children at their placements.
Some Indian or any rural area communities open daycare centers were their children will be taking care of while the parents go to work, however, this centers need a lot of work to be done before you can call this places a date care centers, they often are lacking bathrooms, floors, windows, roofs, and water, this is common in a lot of the poor schools, but Parents leave their children there as they do not have other options, the community cannot afford to improve these centers, or schools.
Meet sick old, youth's children people with no hop of get some help because their family is too poor and sometimes because they don't know how to get a government free medical attention or nutrition help. My job as a Coordinator become compassioned to be more than that, I decide to open a legal Social develop foundation name: VENAEcuador, I have offered my assistance and money to the priority needs where ever I can, along with the help of our volunteers and the ones from a USA Org. for whom we work as their coordinator too. We cannot do this alone; we need the assistance of other individuals. I have garnered the assistance of the volunteers that I have met over the years to meet the financial needs of different community groups in the country, like with the help of Kelsey O'Donnell, her parents and friends from California help as to build the Red Cross in Puerto Lopez, 4 years ago, we start working on remodeling one of the 10 Indian children's centers in Otavalo with the help of Thomas Maningas Emergency assistant Doctor, from USA who's volunteering in Otavalo Hospital, still a lot building projects to be done in this Indian day care centers.
Now kindly let me have your attention in the coastal community of Puerto Viejo: for some reason in this region there is a greater than average percentage of children born with disabilities: include Trisomy 21 Down Syndrome, Quadriplegia, Blindness, Deafness, Epilepsy and various undiagnosed Mental Disabilities. As every ones knowledge these children need especial care and professional attention nether of these professional skills parents can give it to their children's, so seventeen years ago, Mothers in the area got together and talk about the need of open a center the center was born in their minds and the fundraising effort began, the Center was built and opened seven years ago, this Centre gives attention to approximately 115 children with disabilities, some as little as once a week, averaging attendance of 40 children each day.
3 years ago they would attend on a more regular basis if it were possible, but children and their parents or caregivers travel up to three hours by bus or often riding in the back of pickups just to have the privilege, some communities are not accessible by road, and so the children travel by horseback, there are an unknown number of children with disabilities in this region who do not attend the Center as their family cannot afford the cost (money and time) to bring them there.
It is very difficult to understand the task of getting a preteen quadriplegic into the back of a pick-up or bus for a one or two hour ride to the Center, many of the children that attend the Center are in need of physical assistance provided by wheelchairs, and lifts, such commodities are not available to them, some Children and their parents dream of wheelchairs in order to make the ride easier.
It is the only Centre in the ManabĂ Province, so children from communities within the Province with disabilities would have to attend this Center, despite being at times much too far away, then and now I offer to send a soon is possible professional volunteers to help with the children therapy's, provide positive support, motivation, teach English, talk with them, arrange activities, feed them, and be involved with general support especial with their parents.
But the priority goal! with the help of Good and our volunteers it was to fundraise in the name of this Centre approximately USD8.500 dollars, to purchase a used van so that the Center may pick up the Children and their families who live too far away to attend the Center without this assistance.
We did it! After a year of hard work and the help of a volunteers like: Liz Wilson with the first USD100 donation, Jean Glover with USD120, Megan Braddock with USD500, and the BIG help of Georgia Gondor with USD3.500! (She starts a found raise this amount at her town) we made it!
VENAEcuador as community develop service foundation current have be in working in a various building projects, along with an educational, English teaching, medical, conservation, ecosystem, Human Rights', tourist, animal rescue projects, were any kind of help is really appreciate it.

Our mission as a legal and nonprofit foundation of social service: We seek the help of all volunteers who have interest in sharing their time, knowledge and experience to cover all the openings in our projects, volunteering jobs, internships, and study abroad programs. This is to everyone who wishes to have a real experience working directly with the Ecuadorian communities. Therefore we maintain a high value on placing volunteers with nice Ecuadorian families, providing multiple opportunities for participants to increase their Spanish language skills.
