    Course Dates
    Your group will meet with Professor Cheryl Bates on Saturday, April 18 at 12:30 (following family orientation).

    Your group will also meet with Professor Cheryl Bates and Dr. Elizabeth Sirabian-Wade on Monday, April 27th at 3pm in Clow 43. This session will focus on cultural differences related to study in Germany.

    Language Requirements

    There is no German language requirement for students enrolling in courses taught in English.

    Summer Social Work Course

    Social Work 410 (SS) (3 units (crs.))
    Generalist Practice with Groups
    Prerequisite: Admission to BSW Degree and completion of Social Work 340, 368, 378 and 379.

    Students will be enrolled in this course at UW Oshkosh.
    Summer + Fall Semester Social Work Courses

    Social Work 401 (SS) (6 units (crs.))
    Applied Generalist Practice I
    Prerequisite: Successful completion of Field Admission Process and Social Work 340, 368, 378, 379 and 410.

    Social Work 451 (6 units (crs.))
    Applied Generalist Practice II (SS)
    Prerequisite: Successfully meet continuation requirements and completion of Social Work 410. Concurrecnt enrollment in Social Work 401.

    Students will be enrolled in the courses listed above at UW Oshkosh. However, actual course enrollment at Hochschule Fulda will be in "European and Intercultural Competences in Theory and Practice." When viewing the Hochschule Fulda course list, "workload" equals number of hours spent in class, lectures, fieldwork, group work and studying outside of class.

    German Language Courses

    Students are required to study German during both the summer and fall semester programs and will be enrolled in German language courses at the host institution. These courses will transfer back to UW Oshkosh as follows:

    For students with no prior experience learning German - German (course t.b.d.)

    For students with prior experience learning German, the Transfer Credit Prior Approval process must be completed to determine UW Oshkosh course equivalencies.
    Transfer Credit

    After you have successfully completed your study abroad experience, but before you leave for home, you will need to have your transcripts sent to the Transfer Student Coordinator in the UW Oshkosh Admissions Office. You cannot receive transfer credit at UW Oshkosh without the official transcript.

    The International Summer University (ISU) at Fulda attracts an international student population and offers courses in Social Work, Culture & Society, Health & Nutrition and Marketing - in English. All participants take an intensive German language course at levels ranging from beginner to advanced. Round out your experience with an impressive cultural program, complete with excursions, sight-seeing tours, guest lectures and social events. (Information on coursework outside of the Social Work program is available on our ISU page.)

    Summer + Fall Semester

    Start your experience by participating on the summer program described above, then continue for the semester in a program designed to fuse intercultural learning with Social Work courses and an internship - all still offered in English.

    International Student Support at Hochschule Fulda

    The International Office at Hochschule Fulda offers assistance in finding student accommodation as well as providing advice on visas, finances, employment and life in Germany.

    Special Needs

    ISU Fulda offers child care for children 1-8 years old.
