  • Highlights

    Ho is the administrative capital for the Volta Region of Ghana. The city is surrounded by mountains that are well worth exploring due to the green hills and lush tropical valleys that are visually stunning. The Volta Region (and HO) is home to the Ewe people, who in general are generous and hospitable. The local language spoken in Ho is Ewe. You can use Ho as a base to plan a trek around the Volta Region. Just few kilometers from Ho is Kpetoe, a center that holds the colorful Kente fabric. Ask for a guide. They can organize hiking, butterfly watching or a visit to the local medicine man. The traditional festival of Ho is The Yam Festival, and is celebrated in September of every year. The city is noted for a lively and huge open market that attracts people from all over Ghana and Togo.

    uVolunteer believes that you should have a well balanced work and play schedule. This means you will only be required to work 5 days per week (Monday to Friday) for a maximum of 6 hours per day. For the remainder of your time, you will be free to enjoy the vacationing aspects of your trip. uVolunteer anticipates and encourages your desire for travel and adventure. Your time away from volunteering is open for you to decide your activities. You may decide to take advantage of the local culture and spend time within the community over the weekend. Otherwise, there is ample opportunity to explore Ghana and all it has to offer. Our local representative, will advice you on which areas are safe for travel.

    Great weekend trips include:
    * Site seeing and community tours
    * Travel to Cape Coast and Elimina Castle
    * Visit a monkey sanctuary
