You will have the choice of what type of work you would like to do in the Children's Home. The type of work can vary from teaching English or sports, helping with homework, and leading art classes. In addition, you can become involved in the vocational training program, which involves classes in baking, carpentry and dressmaking.
You will be volunteering in Santa Cruz, which is a safe city and a perfect base for exploring the many attractions in and around the city. It's a beautiful city and is also noted for the night life. With an assortment of attractions like the Beach Boardwalk, majestic redwood forest, arts and culture events, one can never get tired of the Santa Cruz lifestyle. uVolunteer believes that you should have a well balanced work and play schedule. This means you will only be required to work 5 days per week (Monday to Friday) for a maximum of 6 hours per day. For the remainder of your time, you will be free to enjoy the vacationing aspects of your trip. Great weekend trips include:
* Explore the local scenery
* Trek or horseback ride in the mountains, or enjoy other natural excursions
* Explore the vibrant night life in the restaurants, bars, and discos
* Visit nearby waterfalls and beaches
* Attend local concerts, cultural events, and art shows
