  • Description

The USAC programs in Spain open an academic window on the Spanish and Basque people, introducing you to the rich diversity of the Iberian Peninsula. As a USAC student you have the opportunity to study intensive Spanish or Basque and to take elective courses in English or Spanish in a variety of subjects such as European Union, Spanish Culture and Civilization, Art History, International Environmental Health, Contemporary Spanish Cinema, and Foundations of Western Culture. The USAC program is located at the University of the Basque Country in San Sebastian, a beautiful city built on three hills surrounding a crescent shaped bay known worldwide for its beaches. The programs include field trips for USAC students to areas of interest in and around the Basque Country as well as an optional tour of Madrid.

The summer San Sebastian program offers two 4-5 week sessions. You may participate in one or both of the sessions, with the option of a four-day visit to Madrid. This program is ideal for those unable to participate in semester or yearlong programs.

  • Highlights

The San Sebastian program offers intensive language study - up to two years of university language requirements may be met in one semester. This city provides the optimum environment for study of the geographic, cultural, and linguistic diversity of the Basque Country and of the Iberian Peninsula. San Sebastian has the highest level of bilingualism of any of the area's cities; all of its inhabitants speak Spanish and about one third speak Basque as well.
