  • Description

The University of Pecs is the largest university of Hungary with the student number of 34.000. It was founded in 1367 and offers a uniquely wide range of studies for students in English and German, too. We started our first English- taught diploma program 24 years ago and by now we are proud to have 1400 international students from all over the world. We have twice received the Erasmus Quality Award for our achievements in the biggest European mobility program, Erasmus, too. We launched our first Study Abroad program for the US students 3 years ago.

Our city, the beautiful Pecs is the fifth largest city in Hungary with a population of about 180,000. It lies in South Transdanubia, close to the border with Croatia. It has a mild, almost Mediterranean climate. Its history goes back over 2,000 years to the Roman times. The downtown of Pecs is a unique mixture of the relics of Early Christianity (part of the World Heritage), the arrival of the Hungarians, the Turkish reign and the achievements of modern architecture and art. Pecs has received the prestigious title 'The European Capital of Culture' for the year 2010. Pecs is a university city. It is full of bars, restaurants and cafés; it has an incredibly vivid student life day and night.
