  • Highlights

National Chiayi University (NCYU) was formed in February 2000 by merging the National Chiayi Institute of Technology (NCIT) and National Chiayi Teachers College (NCTC). NCIT was founded in 1919 as Chiayi Agriculture and Forestry Public School. NCTC was founded in 1957 as Taiwan Provincial Chiayi Normal School. By integrating the two colleges, National Chiayi University is one of the few universities in southwest Taiwan offering programs in life science, agriculture, business administration, natural science, engineering, humanities and education. The University has six colleges with more than 29 graduate institutes and 37 departments on four campuses. NCYU is located in Chiayi City, in the beautiful Chiayi province of Taiwan. Chiayi City is surrounded by many popular natural parks and recreation areas, including the Tanayiku Park of Nature and Ecology, the Thousand Year Cave, and Hsiang Feng Waterfall. You may also want to visit the Shihjhuo Tea Region, located high in the mountains and famous for its fine tea plantations. In addition to these spectacular natural attractions, Chiayi province is also filled with centuries old temples and historical landmarks. This mixture of the natural and the historical makes Chiayi City an ideal location for study, recreation and cultural experience.
