Pontifícia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE) is one of the leading universities in Ecuador. It has approximately 3,000 students and is located in the heart of Quito, a charming, friendly city with numerous examples of colonial era buildings and monuments. Built in 1534, it is the oldest capital in South America, and at 9,300 feet, the second highest capital in the world. However, its temperatures tend to be mild and pleasant because it is near the equator, earning it the nickname, the City of Eternal Spring.
