    The MA in Education is available as a fully online programme for UK and overseas teachers. There are optional face to face action learning workshops available in Carlisle, Lancaster and London.

    The MA in Education programme develops participants as practitioner researchers and change agents by providing a framework for professional development. The programme is designed for teachers, lecturers, professional development facilitators, learning support staff, leaders and those with wider roles within adult education and training and the children's workforce. The programme aims to build knowledge and skills in critical engagement with professional and research literature and the use of systematic enquiry as a powerful, ethical approach to leadership and change in educational settings to raise the achievement and progress of all learners.

    The programme enables participants to focus on their specialist areas or current priorities at work by choosing the focus for their assignments within the broad content area of each module and by providing some choice of modules. In addition to the main award of MA in Education there are named pathways: Leadership and Management; Inclusive Practice; Leading Integrated Children's Services; Higher Education; Leadership in Special Educational Needs; Leadership in Early Years Settings.

    This programme is designed to support you in reaching the highest standard of scholarship and be committed, responsible and creative professionals, capable of critical thinking and practical action.

  • Highlights

    The course uses a virtual learning environment to provide structured online resources to guide independent study, interactive online learning within a tutorial group of other teachers, access to online library resources, access to student support, and proactive tutoring by a university lecturer.

    The lecturers on the MA programme are teachers with experience as practitioners prior to their move to higher education. They have successful experience in schools and other settings and many have held formal leadership roles.
