We are one of the leading business schools, currently ranked fourth in the north of England for business management by the Guardian University Guide 2010. This course is a 'top-up' degree for students with a foundation degree or HND qualification in a business related discipline who wish to achieve an honours degree. As an administrator, supervisor or manager, gaining an honours degree will help your future promotion prospects. We value the need to build into your degree the important aspects of skills development, employability and enterprise as well as the more traditional academic outcomes of theoretical application and critical thought.

As we are situated in and around the Lake District National Park, we have ready access to the outdoors and use it for developing leadership, teams and problem solving.

An enhanced role and potential for career development in general management or administration within the public and private sectors and entry on to part-time Masters and MBA programmes.

Highlights

This is a broad-based programme which will enable students to develop knowledge and understanding of the functional areas of business and management - such as management theory and practice, quality assurance, information management, human resource management, and strategy  with specific emphasis on the impact of these areas of work on the everyday lives of employees in the workplace. Students can build on the experience of their work environment or previous work experience in their studies.

One of the modules encourages students to identify their personal skills and competences as well as their professional development needs, so that they can undertake a learning contract to address such needs. This process assists their career aspirations and ongoing development by helping to plan for and shape career planning strategies and continuing professional development.

We provide a supportive environment in which you can develop academically and personally. Every student is allocated a tutor who will work with you to identify and develop your individual skills and capabilities; we give academic guidance a high priority in The Business School.

The part-time option is designed to provide students in full-time employment with the opportunity to study for a degree in the evening, whilst retaining their work commitments. Contact admissions to apply for part time option.
