As one of the 50 largest universities in the country, The University of Akron is a comprehensive research and teaching university with degree programs ranging from the associate to the doctoral level. UA is a co-ed, state-assisted institution that takes pride in its campus hospitality and offers a dynamic learning environment for students of all backgrounds. Founded in 1870, UA has celebrated over 125 years of academic excellence, while forging ahead to meet the complex needs of today's students. Approximately 800 full-time faculty; many of them are nationally and internationally renowned. A faculty member serves as academic adviser for each student with junior/senior status. With more than 25,000 students, UA has the third-largest principal campus enrollment of Ohio's state universities. Students come from all across Ohio, 34 states and 77 foreign countries.
