  • Description

The Health program of United People is unique in that volunteers will gain exposure to public hospitals and clinics, offering a unique glimpse into systems of medicine vastly different from those in the US and Europe.

Volunteers will also have the opportunity to support in our projects in public school, orphanages and smaller government clinics on health education initiatives.

  • Qualifications

UPA welcomes all interested individuals to participate in the volunteer program, as we believe that everyone with a passion for children's education and health has something valuable to contribute. Our volunteers come from universities, graduate programs and other professional backgrounds. We will take clinical, professional and academic experiences into account when planning volunteer itineraries. If you have a strong preference for a medical focus, health education or other facet of our program please indicate this on your enrollment forms and feel free to inform our team. We ask that all volunteers be flexible and help out where needed at the volunteering site.

  • Typical Volunteer

Our programs are especially designed to provide medical experience and exposure appropriate to the undergraduate level, which makes our sites very popular among pre-health college or university students. However, students of all fields of study are welcome to participate and will find numerous activities to interest them on site. During the time spent volunteering at our medical facilities, your tasks may consist mainly of shadowing the physician, nurse, or other medical professionals. Based on your volunteering location, you may also be able to assist with patient intake, give vaccinations, take vital signs, or distribute medications, but this remains at the discretion of the field team and medical staff.
