    Focusing on Comparative Perspectives of Law and International Development, the Rio Program partners with the Fundacion Getulio Vargas Faculty of Law ("FGV Direito-Rio"), one of the best law faculties in Brazil. We offer students the widest possible exposure to Brazil, Brazilian society and legal institutions, and to diverse learning environments, including classes supplemented by role-playing and presentations from local lawyers and government.

    Some of the sample tours that can be organized during the Program are visits to: the Atlantic Rainforest Trip; the Central Rio Police Station; Preparatory meeting for the Rio +20 conference; the Labor Court in Sao Joao de Mereti; the Corcovado Monument and the Unit of Police Pacification in Cantagalo favela.

    Housing:
    To reserve housing, select the housing type you desire on our Summer Abroad Application. Housing costs will be billed through Tulane's Accounts Receivable Office along with tuition. Dormitory accommodations will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Your housing reservation will be considered submitted once we have received your deposit and you are fully enrolled in the program. Housing will be offered through the Edificio Jucati, an apartment rental complex. The Edificio Jucati has 55 large apartments (about 45m2). The room facilities include bedroom, bathroom and a basic kitchen. All apartments have two bedrooms, refrigerator, stove, telephone, ceiling fan and air conditioners.

    ONE SESSION: The cost per person, for one session, is projected to be 560 USD for a double room with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities (two (2) double rooms - four people - share all facilities), 650 USD for a double room with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities (one (1) double room and one (1) single room - three people - share all facilities), and 820 USD for a single room with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities (two (2) single rooms - two people - share all facilities). In 2012, internet use will be included in the housing cost.

    TWO SESSIONS: The cost per person, for both sessions, is projected to be 1,080 USD for a double room with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities (two (2) double rooms - four people - share all facilities), 1,250 USD for a double room with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities (one (1) double room and one (1) single room - three people - share all facilities), and 1,580 USD for a single room with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities (two (2) single rooms - two people - share all facilities).
