Teach Nepali students!
Trek through the Himalayas to arrive at a day school more than 5,000 feet high. Live with a Nepali family, eat their food and immerse yourself within their culture. Make new friends for life. See the most exquisite sites imaginable.
Considered by many to be the most beautiful country in the world, Nepal holds several of the highest peaks in the world. The Himalayas hold serene sights that, to correctly imagine, you must visit to comprehend its beauty. Living within the hills and mountains are some of the most genuine people that you can encounter. They are always smiling, happy and eager to learn. The school children sometimes trek for 2 hours a day, often times they must trek uphill both ways and in the snow or cold rain, so they can obtain the education that they need to survive in their world.
To be successful in our rapidly globalizing world, they will need more knowledge than what was passed on by only their elders, they need you!
They need a more well-rounded outlook on the world if they want to expand their horizons beyond the beautiful backyard that they have grown up in. The answer is a Western teacher with a vibrant outlook on life that can teach a few English, computer or math classes. Any medium that would go beyond just the Nepali requirements will allow them to grow beyond their what opportunities their parents had.
What these students need is a person who has the maturity and enthusiasm to live in and immerse themselves in a family's home for the stay. A teacher who cannot only teach them new skills or game, but will assist them with the talents they already do have. Most importantly, the children will expect this teacher to become a role model that can motivate them to become the best person they can be.
You can be that teacher!
Life is a book, those who do not travel read only one page. - St. Augustine
We believe that having the experience of teaching students will be the most valuable highlight you can have, however it goes without saying that the beauty you will see in Nepal will stay with you forever.
The Himalayas and Nepal are full of activities you will remember for life. Trek to Teach offers the visiting teacher several opportunities to experience more of Nepal with a local English speaking guide that will safely lead you to awe inspiring sights.
You will be able to trek around the local area of your school but with only a couple of days off every week, the trekking wont be as extensive as you may like it to be. During a longer school break, or after you are finished teaching at the school, you can choose one of these memorable options that will lead you to greater heights.
The hard requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (or currently working on one)
- Proven success in University ( at least 2.5 GPA)
- Clean record
You must be a good student to be a good teacher... although this statement is not an absolute certainty, it holds truth the majority of the time. The relationships we have built with our partner schools in Nepal are sensitive relationship, and we are not willing to take more risk than we have to by allowing a teacher to go to Nepal without a clean record and a rich history of success in the classroom.

Please keep in mind that 1) this program is to benefit the travelling teacher and also the Nepali village and 2) Trek to Teach must make a small profit to allow expand the program and allow more opportunities to more eager teachers. That being said, we are willing to work with excited teachers who need financial assistance.
2 weeks
We aim to send excited individuals to the Himalayas of Nepal to teach eager young minds. The teacher would live with a host family who would provide them with room and board. Currently, the children of Nepal are not getting the education they need to succeed in this ever-changing world, a teacher with knowledge beyond the walls of the Nepali village, can inspire many of these students to learn as much as possible.
