Since 2011, Trek to Teach has been combining hiking and teaching in the Himalayas for the ultimate overseas adventure. The program begins with a four-day trek to your new school and home in the Annapurna Mountain Range, where interns will be immersed fully in the culture and education system of the region. The local ethnic group, the Gurung community, will open their doors and share their language, music, traditions, farming practices, and recipes. In exchange, ESL teachers will inspire K-10th grade students, using a rote style of instruction to engage participation. When not teaching, the opportunities to hike through the mountains are endless. Be aware: As you will be working in remote communities, where help is most needed, a good physical condition is required for all participants of this program. After the 2015 earthquake, interns are needed more than ever!
