Program Duration
5-8 weeks
3 COUNTRIES, 3 CENTRES, 6 WEEKS ... Three separate 2-week volunteering projects in three of our project locations.
This compact Southern African Experience is designed to offer you a varied and insightful volunteering, cultural and travel experience through three of Southern Africa's most appealing destinations: South Africa, Zambia & Zimbabwe. In South Africa, travel the gorgeous Western Cape Route, home of the majestic Outeniqua Mountain. Then experience Zambia and Zimbabwe from either side of the awe inspiring Victoria Falls... in Livingstone, Zambia, and at Zimbabwe's Lion Breeding Project, where you can really walk with Lions! "The walk with the lions was the highlight of my entire life!"
This really is a unique experience. With a selection of voluntary work projects to choose from, as well as additional cultural courses available to you in each city, we've done all the hard work!
All you have to do is handpick your perfect itinerary... This experience can also be offered in the opposite 'direction' if this fits in better with your travel plans.
YOUR JOURNEY THROUGH SOUTHERN AFRICA
GARDEN ROUTE (SOUTH AFRICA): 2 WEEKS
You will fly first into George or Port Elizabeth in South Africa, where you will be met at the airport by our friendly, lively organizers and settled in to your accommodation.
Knysna and George lie on the world-famous Garden Route and are conveniently placed halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. This is a very social environment where the majestic Outeniqua Mountain lies to the north and the Indian ocean to the South, giving the town a very moderate Mediterranean climate.
"Scenically Knysna, or in fact South Africa, is outstanding. Around every corner you would be met by a postcard image. Even in this winter season, the weather was great, sunny and warm. Because the pollution is at a much lower level in Knysna than back home, the sunsets and stars at night were so much more spectacular!!" Anuji Chahal
VOLUNTEER PROJECTS AVAILABLE ON THE GARDEN ROUTE

* Coaching Sports
* Street Kids Project

LIVINGSTONE(ZAMBIA): 2 WEEKS
Livingstone acts as a gateway to the magnificent attractions of the Falls and the Mosi Oa Tunya National Park. "We plan on going to Victoria Falls tomorrow and maybe do some activity there this weekend. Our wildlife sighting has consisted of two lizards and the residential cats that roam the hostel and we are so anxious to see some elephants" Verity, Shona, Harriette, and Wanda

VICTORIA FALLS (ZIMBABWE): 2 WEEKS
Previously known as Rhodesia, Zimbabwe lies between two great African rivers, the mighty Zambezi River in the north, and the Limpopo River in the south. Covering an area of about 375,830 square kilometres, it is best known by tourists for the Victoria Falls, a great waterfall much larger than Niagara Falls.
To begin with, the Victoria Falls are legendary - a ferocious curtain of water 1,700 metres wide that plunges deep into the gorge of the mighty Zambezi River. Upstream from the Falls the river is placid and tranquil. Zambezi National Park preserves 56,000 acres along the river and there are fishing camps along the shore that take anglers out on river to catch tiger fish. Wildlife can be viewed in cruises along the river or on explorations into the park's interior.
Downstream from the falls, the river offers spectacular whitewater rafting. Adventures range from a day or two to a spectacular week of rafting all the way to Lake Kariba. This huge inland sea is adorned with submarine forests, open skies and spectacular sunsets. The only project available here is...
