A tour to the magnificent temples of Dendera and Abydos which are from the best examples of fine architecture in ancient Egypt. The temples will be even more enjoyable while listening to the beautiful explanation of your private Egyptologist tour guide

You tour will start early in the morning as your guide will pick you up from your hotel at (07:20) to join the police convoy going there which departs from luxor at 08:00. After about 3 hours driving, you will reach the outstanding temple of Abydos which was built by King Seti 1st, and was finished by his son King Ramses 2nd.

Abydos which lies in Middle Egypt, is an ancient holy place and burial ground of the rulers of the late prehistoric proto-kingdom as well as the first attested kings of the politically unified Egyptian state and was thought to be the burial place of the head of god Osiris, the ancient Egyptian god of the underworld after he was murdered by his brother. The temple is considered one of the most important temples in Egypt as it has 7 entrances leading to 7 sanctuaries. Your guide will give you a detailed explanation of the temple showing you the amazing high and low relief as well as the wonderful colors on the walls, then he will show you the kings' list which was made there by king Seti including almost all kings of Egypt then he will show you the small temple of Osiris which was made out in the open air (Osirion) then you will have your own free time to explore the temple by yourself.

Your next destination will be towards the beautiful temple of goddess Hathor at Dendera,
The approach path to the Temple of Hathor is between two Roman fountains that end at the massive entry gate. Hathor was the goddess of pleasure and love and was generally shown as a cow or woman with a cow's head.

The enclosure walls are mud-brick and date to the Roman era. Within the walls are the temple, two birth houses, a Coptic Basilica, a sanitarium, a sacred lake and the Temple of the Birth of Isis your guide will show you the inner parts of the temple as well as the wonderful depiction of the zodiac which is on the roof top of the temple, then you will proceed towards the sacred lake and the back of the temple to see the rare depiction of queen Cleopatra VII.

After you finish visiting the temple you will, get your own free time to explore the temple, then you will take the police convoy back to Luxor where you will be returned back to your hotel or cruise ship.
