  • Description

    Study Portuguese language in Brazil with Towson University in Summer 2012. This program will allow students to begin or enhance their Portuguese language skills and experience the local culture. Participants will take classes at a local faculdade. In addition, students will participate in a community service component providing a unique opportunity to observe and reflect upon the daily life of the local people first-hand.

  • Highlights

    Participants will also gain an appreciation for the unique customs and history of the region and the Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous contributions to Brazilian culture through visits and excursions. Program highlights include visits to museums and other important sites including the Fortaleza Negra, an Indian reservation, and Redencao - the first city in Brazil to abolish slavery. Participants will live with a local family who provide 2 meals a day and accommodation in a shared double room.
