Description

The school is situated in the rural village of a small town know as kaloleni. It has 65 children who have physical disabilities, i.e , dyslexia, loss of hearing and also normal kids. The school is not supported by the government. It's the friends and community who support it.

One volunteer who came through TouchAfrica, Mrs. Ginny Kimbro, who is also deaf was touched by the plight of these kids and now decided to start a fund and support the kids and the school. All the kids are taught inside the mad wall classroooms and have two volunteer teachers whom Ginny is helping pay some salary to take care of the kids.

The volunteer placement lacks teachers, and so volunteers are requested to come in large numbers and help out in all areas. Financial and material support is really needed in these establishments.

Highlights

The students all reside back to their homes where the guardians or parents take care of them and come back to school everyday.

Meals are provided at the shool so volunteers have an opportunity to do the following:
- Help in giving out the lunch feeding program
- Help in tutoring the kids
- Professionals have a field day in ensuring proper skills are taught to these kids on the ways of survival and leading a normal life.
- Sports and games are also necessary to these kids
- Training and arts are also needed

This is a great oportunity for the volunteer to see, learn, and be touched to make a difference.

Qualifications

* The volunteer placement is open to all participants who are ready to dedicate their time, skill and heart to love and work with these kids.
* The kids are very fun to work with and they need all your energy and attention to them.
* Professionals are really needed in these schools because they have a shortage of that, and also doctors who have specialised with such kind of disabilities are highly invited.
* The volunteer placement is qualified for persons from 16 years to 70 years.
