At Tinkuy Peru, you will have the opportunity to work in small class sizes with special needs children. These children do not receive any formal education and show their gratitude for your time in lots of big hugs and kisses. The special needs children are appreciative of anything you can teach them and will help you further understand the developmental stages of learning and gain experience in the classroom while also cultivating your care giving traits and giving opportunities for patience. Please note your interest in the special needs program on your application so that we can be sure that you are placed with these children.

We are located in the Peruvian Highlands, artisan valley of the Mantaro River. It is a wonderful place to learn or to improve your Spanish because there are not many tourists here. The people are very warm and friendly with a rich and lively culture. Also being surrounded by the Andean mountains, the views alone are worth coming for.

Qualifications

18 years of age and a valid passport. The more experience you have the better. However, prior experience working with special needs children is not required in order to volunteer with our program. If you do not have any teaching experience, we would be happy to have you assist in classes taught by more experienced teachers.

Tinkuy Peru is to work as a community organization aimed at planning and implementing educational, environmental and healthcare activities in the impoverished region of Huancayo, Peru. We aim to promote voluntary work for both public and private organizations and institutions. Our goal is to offer moral, spiritual, intellectual and material support to children who have been subjected to family or society abandonment, or who have experienced social or domestic violence.
