I love Brisbane, it's a big city and yet everyone is still really friendly. I definitely feel at home here. I like having a 'home base' and going to university where it is super easy to make tons of friends. I love travlling all over Australia, so much of my free time is taken up by traveling and I've seen more of Australia than Canada. There is so much to do here - there are great beaches up in Queensland, and a great climate.

It's also really interesting to see the world from another nation's perspective. I've made so many amazing friendships. I'm so glad I came.

I chose to study in Australia because I've...

I chose to study in Australia because I've always wanted to visit Australia and thought it would be the perfect opportunity to come out here and really experience what life is like Down Under. The people, climate, wide variety of landscapes and places to visit and sports to take part in really attracted me as well.

The best things about studying at UQ is that the sporting facilities are amazing, the location is fabulous since it is not too far from the stunning chilled out beaches of the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast, and really close to the buzzing city of Brisbane, which has fantastic nightlife, great shopping and lots of nice places to eat out or relax with a coffee after a morning of lectures.

The practical, hands-on lab experience was very interesting and enjoyable and helped to enforce materials we had been taught in lectures. The field trips were an invaluable part of the courses and were a great opportunity to meet new people and see new sights. Having studied in Australia I think I will have an edge over other applicants when I am trying to get my foot on the career ladder as it shows that I am hardworking, adventurous and ambitious, and I can adapt well to new situations.

My favourite thing about living in Australia is the year round sunshine and warmth which I am not used to back home! My friends and I go to the beach and outdoor pool and participate in outdoor sports as often as we can. We have also done a lot of travelling and are looking forward to a road trip from Melbourne to Adelaide which we have planned over mid semester break!

Kate's advice to anyone that is thinking about studying in Australia is to ' Go for it, and get ready for an action packed year of fun in the sun!'
