Learn about New Zealand's current environmental issues, as well as conservation efforts designed to save native habitat and endangered species. New Zealand is considered to be the adventure capital of the world, and you will learn how this is intertwined in the culture through an outdoor adventure component.
* Coursework *
Through lectures, readings, museums, and field tours students learn about New Zealand's environmental issues and habitat and species conservation efforts. You learn how Maori people once utilized the land and how this has implications for today. Students will work on group projects designed to deepen understanding of issues of species protection and habitat restoration.
* Excursions *
There are a number of excursions which could include visits to museums, indigenous forests, national parks, and conservation sites.
* Housing and Meals *
Students live in shared apartments with other program participants. A welcome dinner and farewell luncheon are included in the program fee. Additional meals can be taken in the apartments or at local eateries.
* On-Site Support *
On-site support is provided by a local learning abroad center. Students may have access to a computer lab, a classroom space, and a library. On-site staff provide information to students regarding cultural activities as well as ensuring 24-hour emergency support.
