We are seeking applicants for the role of Finance Manager based in Arusha, Tanzania at The School of St Jude. St Judes is a charity funded school that provides quality education to approximately 1,500 primary and secondary children from the poorest communities in Arusha. St Judes has experienced rapid growth and is currently strengthening its management structure.
The Finance Manager is responsible for managing and further developing the financial systems for our organisation and heads a team of five qualified personnel. This is a new and exciting role ideal for the more experienced accountant or qualified financial professional who is now able to take time out and manage a younger team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Planning, budgeting, management reporting, preparation of the annual financial accounts, forecasting and fixed asset management, with a hands on approach;
* Improving our finance and support function policies, systems and procedures;
* Advise in regard to legal and statutory matters;
* Continue to develop the basic accounting and financial management skills of the local staff, building confidence and instilling a strong sense of direction among the team.

Experience:
* A degree in Accounting or similar discipline;
* Relevant and demonstrable experience in a senior finance role;
* Proficiency in Quick Books and other accounting software would be an advantage.
Skills:
* Possess patience, tolerance and practicality whilst being efficient;
* Strong inter-personal and communication skills;
* Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a challenging environment.

Whether you join us for one year or more you only have to make a one time fee of USD 500.00. This goes towards the upkeep of your accomodation building.
Although this is technically a volunteer assignment, the stipend is negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.
