    Translation Abroad is a practical academic program which offers intensive Russian lessons and professional, hands-on translation experience.

  • Highlights

    Translation Abroad is designed to give students the skills and experience they need. With individualized Russian lessons, cultural immersion, and hands-on experience translating political, legal, technical, and/or marketing material for businesses, museums, or NGOs, participants will have experience translating in the office and translating independently.

    Applicants should have native English skills, strong English composition skills and advanced Russian language skills. No previous experience or education in translation is needed.

    Program costs include tuition for study as outlined, visa and registration, pre-departure materials, local orientation, health and accident insurance, dormitory housing, round-trip airport transfers, use of a mobile telephone, and SRAS in-country support.

    In a small effort to improve the quality of the world's translations, SRAS is offering one 500 USD grant each semester to help young translators go abroad to jump-start their career as a translator.
