What causes revolution? When does a mass movement become mass protest? When does protest evolve into revolution? Were Russia's revolutions inevitable? Find out this summer.
This seminar consists of two weeks of lectures and events. Contact SRAS for more information.
Better understand revolution and protest by examining the Russian Revolution and fall of Communism. Discuss broader theoretical questions with experts on the ground in Russia, such as how the media and NGOs can influence public opinion, and how demographics can ease or exacerbate tensions. Is Russia ready for revolution? Is the US or Western Europe? Learn all this at historically-relevant venues in St. Petersburg, Suzdal, and Moscow. You'll not only gain a deeper understanding of the history of the past Russian century, but also a better idea of where today's street protests and revolutions could be taking us.
