The Peace Project is a community organization working to expand educational opportunities, foster environmental stewardship, and facilitate community development in Laguna de Apoyo, Nicaragua. Founded in August 2011, The Peace Project believes in Peace Education, or the interactive process of learning to love and respect oneself, others, and the environment. We combine the tenets of Peace Education with English language instruction directly in the local primary school and in an after-school enrichment program held at The Peace Project Hostel. We have expanded our educational programs beyond youth ESL instruction to include basic and advanced computation, youth art, adult literacy, and adult ESL. We also promote environmental conservation through educational activities with youth during our after-school enrichment program.
