  • Description

La Mariposa non-profit Eco-Hotel and Spanish school is seeking a motivated and organized person to act as guest liaison, activity organizer, bilingual guide, and to help with our daily hotel operations. The Intern must demonstrate good organization and communication skills, and an enthusiasm for working in an eco-friendly/nonprofit workplace. An interest in understanding the reasons for poverty in countries like Nicaragua and the possible contribution of sustainable development, nonprofit work, and environmental issues is essential. The internship is unpaid; the intern will work closely with the hotel owner, and staff, while gaining invaluable, hands-on experience in the hotel/eco-tourism/nonprofit sector. This is an opportunity to improve your Spanish skills, immerse yourself in a new culture, support local community projects, and to gain hands-on experience working in a non-profit that is dedicated to sustainable development. This job requires flexibility, and it is best suited to someone who is interested in activity planning, eco-tours, and assisting the Hotel Director with hotel bookings and guest relations.

The cost is 80 USD per week which includes homestay and 3 meals a day. Spanish classes are available for 20 USD per 10 hours. You will be able to take advantage of the various activities offered in the surrounding areas, while learning about Nicaraguan history and politics.
