El Carmen de Viboral

I have been with the Foundation from July till end of November 2016, based in El Carmen de Viboral. The village is 1.5h from Medellin, quiet, beautiful, very safe, but at the same time full of art, culture and lovely people. The kids at school are willing to learn, so are the adults in a local education center. The Foundation is active and ambitious. The volunteers are amazing young people from all over the world. Great experience and loads to teach and to learn.

Volunteering with Fundación Marina Orth

Fundación Marina Orth has definitely given me a great experience in El Carmen de Viboral, Colombia. I am happy that I got the opportunity to share my knowledge, and at the same time learn a lot, in a rural part of Colombia. In a place like El Carmen de Viboral you get to experience a culture which still is genuine and authentic, without too much involvement from the outside world. That being said, El Carmen de Viboral is developing in high speed, which means that you as a volunteer have the possibility to be a part of this interesting time. Generally the population is eager to learn about you, your culture and the world, which makes the work much more fun!

El Carmen Volunteer

Working with the Marina Orth Foundation has been a really fun and rewarding experience. The foundation is staffed by young, active, funny, and dedicated people. El Carmen is a great pueblo with a super friendly population and a very happy atmosphere. My work site, Parque Educativo, is a really nice new facility with wifi, projectors, good people, and a variety of other activities to participate in when you´re not working. The English classes here are free for the community so the students that choose to come are eager to learn.

English volunteer Jan-June 2016

Last January I decided to travel to Colombia and teach with the Marina Orth Foundation. And it turned out to be the best six months of probably my entire life. I met amazing people through the foundation, had the sweetest host family, and really enjoyed my time living a pretty authentic Colombian life in El Carmen de Viboral. Every day I looked forward to seeing the kids, my friends, and experiencing Colombia. I would recommend this foundation to anyone looking for an authentic and fulfilling experience!
