  • Description

This is a voluntary post supporting and caring for adults with learning disabilties as well as sharing life in houses and craft workshops. You are expected to train in holistic care with us and deliver 40 hours a week care and support to the adults you share your life with under the guidance of expereinced co-ordinators. Beyond the working hours you would join a community based on anthroposophic principles of the Camphill movement. You are expected to actively participate in community activities within this ethos.

  • Highlights

Living and working within The Lantern Community is both a challenging and rewarding experience which is more a way of life than a job.

The benefits of living together alongside the Companions (adults with special needs) are manifold, the love you give them is paid back as hundredfold and the skills you teach them are not nearly what they will teach to you. But that is only one side of the life here, the co-worker group is made up of dedicated people from all around the globe, all working together to carry a healing impulse here in the south of England.

In the Lantern Community the co-workers work out of the spiritual philosophy of Rudolf Steiner (Anthroposophy) and Karl Konig, but even if you have no knowledge of their works, only an open mind you can come to the community and be part of something greater than yourself.

  • Qualifications

No qualifications are needed as training will be given. You will join an accredited course in holistic care and support (HosC). Formal training takes place once a week, further training is taking place throughout the working week and in various environments.
