For anyone wanting to study Arabic (MSA or Moroccan), I would thoroughly recommend Language House in Marrakech. Last January I stayed for two very enjoyable weeks with my teacher, Abderrahim, and his family. Abderrahim is a highly-qualified aand experienced teacher, and during the lessons I spoke a lot of Arabic. I also gained a lot of knowledge about life in Morocco. My specialty is MSA, and before starting the course I was apprehensive about studying Arabic in Morocco where the dialect is so distinctive. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that many Moroccans were prepared to speak MSA. (During previous trips to Arabic-speaking countries I had found it frustrating as many people had wanted to speak English rather than MSA). Language House offers students a choice of homestay or renting a flat. I would definitely recommend homestay. The Saadounis were the perfect host family. Not only did I get to know Abderrahim and Zahra but I also met many other members of their family who were all very friendly. It was wonderful to join in family activities like parties and a visit to the local hammam. The Saadounis have a lovely house on the outskirts of Marrakech but within easy reach of the centre. Marrakech has an inexpensive and reliable bus service. Taxi drivers want to charge foreigners extra but then the rides gave me the opportunity to have more language practice. Needless to say, there is plenty to see and do in the town and in the nearby Atlas mountains. I am very grateful to Language House and Abderrahim and his family for providing me with such a wonderful opportunity to improve my Arabic.
I had a really enjoyable stay with a host family just on the outskirts of Marrakesh. A short bus-ride from the city centre, it was a perfect haven of peace within touching distance of the bustling city. Family life was very relaxed and it was easy just to fit into the daily routine of the house. Lessons were full of variety, combining internet resources, newspaper articles, popular music and many other media to give an interesting look at different kinds of Arabic. I felt my standard Arabic improved a lot over the two weeks I stayed in Marrakesh and I also managed to pick up a little of the local dialect, which will be useful if I ever go back to Morocco. I was welcomed so warmly by my hosts that I hope it won't be too long until I'm back to visit. The Marrakesh marathon in January, whilst an exhausting prospect, might be enough to tempt me back very soon indeed!
A congenial mixed age but mostly younger european student group, with a perfect mix of a few retirement-aged students, and some from asia and the Americas. My two class instructors, Celine and Mariel were outstanding; animated energetic and fun. The office staff were responsive to any logistic requirement. Montpellier was the best, a mature student town, all ages behaving well in public, and what seemed like thirty cafes packed every day all day no matter the weather, which was seasonably nice, even in November. The mountains of the Cevennes, the Camarque, Provence, and the Med beaches are closeby, and TGV service was one stop and three hours to Paris. Abundant service by the euro discount air carriers too. Loved it all.
The Language House provided us with solid preparation for how to teach English as well as great support for securing an ESL job. Ive been working in Marrakesh since I finished the course and I still use the course materials as a reference. I was very happy with the quality of the course and highly recommend it.
The course in Cannes is a wonderful experience conducted in a modern, well-equipt environment by admirably experienced teachers with all the facilities of a vibrant French town right on the doorstep - and only 2 minutes walk from the sea! I would recommend this course and this venue to anyone wishing to enjoy studying for a recognized, accredited TEFL qualification.
I must say how impressed I was with Marijke, our trainer. I have been on a lot of training courses and I found that her professionalism, demeanor and application were outstanding.
I found the course to be extremely comprehensive and well organized. It allowed us to put what we've learned into practice.
I enjoyed being thrown into teacher practice from the start and it provided a solid foundation for becoming a teacher.
A very dynamic course which was mostly due to our trainer. There is an excellent balance between theory and practice.
I've learned a massive amount of information. Its been a brilliant experience and I appreciated the practical component which allowed me to actually teach instead of just talking about teaching.
Even though I have teaching experience, I learned a lot about grammar, time management and teaching techniques. Its was, overall, a great learning environment.
The whole experience was an entire transformation for me. It was a very well- rounded program.
I've learned that I enjoy teaching. It was a great program and I recommend it.
The course touched on points I can use during my teaching career as well as it provided a good base of knowledge. I'm very happy I did it.
I felt I learned a great deal and feel much more confident about teaching having done the course. There is so much more to teaching than I realized. The teaching practice was helpful as it gave insight to professional teaching. Finally, thank you for giving me the opportunity to study at The Language House. I had a fabulous experience.
It was overall a great experience. As an experienced teacher, I enjoyed learning the grammar as well as new approaches to teaching.
I enjoyed the entire course. It was much more than I ever expected to learn. I enjoyed the group, the teacher practice and the encouragement. It encompassed every area needed to teach English abroad.
It was such a vast amount of information. I've gained a deeper understanding of how to teach English as well as the psychology of teaching. It was a wonderful experience and Im so glad I took the course.
Thank you for a great TEFL Course in Montpellier. It was well structured, good fun and very interesting. Paul is a fantastic teacher. I thoroughly enjoyed working at the Lycee and Wall Street. In fact, having the Wall Street experience allowed me to get the job I have now.
This course fullfilled my expectations and I would strongly recommend it. Gyl and her team do a great job of showing how to teach through demonstration and teacher practice.
The practical experience gained was intense but invaluable. I appreciated the constructive feedback and the course material which we take away will be a very helpful reference guide.
I learned so much about teaching but I also learned a lot about myself. Gyl not only gave us the tools to teach but helped me develop the confidence as well. The Jobs website we have access to is a great asset towards finding a job.
I completely enjoyed this challenging and intense course. The practical experience alone was, without a doubt, the best part because we were able to work in real teaching situations.
What a great value for the price! I highly recommend this program. I enjoyed the trainers, the structure of the course and most of all, the varied teacher practice. I feel confident and prepared to start teaching.
